Sherm went from Storyboard Revisionist to Storyboard Artist to Director on Nickelodeon's Hey Arnold over the course of its first three seasons. For the first four seasons of SpongeBob SquarePants, Sherm served as writer, director, storyboard artist and Storyboard Supervisor.
